The years 'in between'
For most organisations OutdoorsMark certification is valid for three years. Therefore, there are two years in which no audit is conducted.
On those 'in between' years, you are required to complete an Annual Declaration of Conformance. This declaration states your organisation is conforming with the requirements of your OutdoorsMark licence, the certification criteria, and all benchmark criteria as set out in the OutdoorsMark audit and so assessed at the most recent audit.
The cost of maintaining your OutdoorsMark certification is $200 + GST per year.
Also during those 'in between' years there may be visits, spot checks and other monitoring from OutdoorsMark auditors, or persons so delegated by Outdoors New Zealand.
The renewal audit
After a maximum of two annual declarations, it is time to conduct the renewal audit. You will receive notification well in advance of this event.
It is usual for a different auditor from the previous one to be engaged. It is also usual for different activities (if feasible) to be assessed on the field audit.
The size, scope and cost of this audit is again heavily influenced by how long the job will take to reach a successful conclusion.
