REGISTER OF OUTDOOR SAFETY AUDITORS

The Register of Outdoor Safety Auditors (ROSA) is a collective of trained outdoor specialists who prepare and / or verify outdoor safety management systems. ROSA auditors aspire to achieve consistent, high-quality auditing standards which enhance safety in the outdoor industry. To this end, ROSA circulates relevant information amongst its members and holds moderation workshops.

ROSA is a Standing Committee of Outdoors New Zealand and reports to the Outdoors New Zealand Board. Along with offering a variety of outdoor safety consulting services, ROSA auditors also conduct the OutdoorsMark audits for Outdoors New Zealand. The Department of Conservation recognises ROSA as the sole source of external auditors for concessionaires.

ROSA AUDITORS

There is a rigorous process for joining ROSA. Applicants must have significant experience in the outdoor industry, hold outdoor qualifications, and have undergone auditor training. Referees are required and applicants must sign a Code Of Conduct. This Code governs the way in which ROSA auditors work. It includes elements such as acting professionally and in an unbiased manner, only disclosing audit information when the law requires or when a client authorises, and not communicating misleading information that may compromise an audit's integrity.
