Outdoors New Zealand was established in 1997 as the lead body supporting and representing outdoor recreation and education in New Zealand. We advocate for our members and promote safe, quality participation in the outdoors through innovative research, education, networking, consultancy and standards. Key priorities for ONZ are fostering collaboration and partnerships within the outdoor community, encouraging high quality standards and best practices, and advocating strongly for increased funding and programme support. |

Our growing community includes 100 organisational members from across the country that represent the majority of outdoor educators, industry training organisations, volunteer groups, professional guilds, outdoor recreation and adventure tourism operators in New Zealand. We provide our members with resources, standards, the OutdoorsMark quality assurance scheme, support networks, and strategic leadership. |

We strive to lead the growth of outdoor recreation and education through collaboration, consultancy and strategic leadership in the outdoor community and in government. The ONZ Executive governs the direction that we pursue on behalf of member interests while our staff, resource specialists and Steering Committes lead key initiatives for our sector. |

The theme for the 2008 Outdoor Forum is ‘Enhancing Capabilities in the Outdoors’ through practical seminars, interactive workshops and the provision of robust resources. The Outdoor Forum is an excellent opportunity for networking with colleagues and stakeholders from across the outdoor sector and will be held 12 & 13 September, 2008 at the Wellington Town Hall.

OutdoorsMark is the national outdoor safety quality assurance scheme designed specifically for organisations involved in outdoor education, recreation, and adventure programmes. The OutdoorsMark audit provides an independent process for assessing the robustness of organisational safety policies, procedures and practices for alignment with currently accepted outdoor industry standards. |

The Register of Outdoor Safety Auditors (ROSA) is a collective of highly qualified outdoor safety auditors aspiring to achieve the highest quality of outdoor safety auditing standards in New Zealand. OutdoorsMark audits are conducted by trained and approved OutdoorsMark auditors, all of whom are current members of ROSA. |
