The Steps to OutdoorsMark Certification
1 Application
- You complete the application form and submit it with the application fee to Outdoors New Zealand.
- Outdoors New Zealand confirms the application by generating a GST invoice/receipt.
- You get full access to OutdoorsMark audit material, guidance notes and forum once payment has been received.
2 Pre-Audit Determination and Agreement
- OutdoorsMark Programme Manager makes an initial estimate of the size and scope of your audit to determine probable cost of the audit job.
- If satisfactory, you accept the estimate.
3 Self-Check
- You complete the self-check component of the audit form.
- You submit the audit form along with your safety management system documents.
4 Document Audit and Audit of Practice
- Auditor conducts the document audit using the audit form and your submitted documents.
- If necessary, the auditor requests additional material from you to better inform the assessment.
- Auditor conducts the audit of practice at a mutually agreed place and time. For organisations only getting a document audit, go to Step 5.
5 Outcome and Certification
- Auditor provides verbal feedback to you and an indication of the outcome. If the outcome is a 'deferral', you have (in most cases) one month to rectify the issues that led to the deferral.
- Auditor submits report to Outdoors New Zealand.
- Outdoors New Zealand processes the report and sends it to you.
- You have ten days to make comment on the report.
- Outdoors New Zealand issues final report (if warranted), certification material and invoice.
